Let's just pretend we're young with wisdom beyond our years Pete.
Wednesday, December 7, 2011 SLDL w. Axle (5:00, 135lbs): x4,4,4,4,4
Garage is getting cold. Holding the bar was not comfortable.

Friday, December 9, 2011 SQ: bar x 10, 135lbs x 10 SQ (240lbs, 5:00): x5, 5, 5
I should have been able to do another set of 5 at least and everything felt very good and fast, but time just got away from me. I'll squat again probably Sunday.

Thursday, December 15, 2011 SQ: bar x 10, 135lbs x 10, 205lbs x 5 SQ (10:00, 275lbs): x5, 3, 3, 5
Ended up cranking up my left hip somehow.... It felt pretty good and fast until then. Like I said before, the squat is a bit more of a mobility drill for me than it used to be, and I probably need to spend a lot more time addressing that than I have been. Soooo, the next step will be healing, ice, and some NSAIDs, later stretching and more unilateral work.

Monday, December 19, 2011 Push-Ups (5:00): x20, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10
I was telling Johnny that I feel fat and weak. His response, more or less, was that I need to lift more. The truth is that sometimes I get into the minimalist training so much that for me, less isn't more, less is just less. I'm not sure what the solution is exactly, but probably establishing minimum weekly tonnages would be a decent place to start.

Tuesday, December 20, 2011 Snatch Grip SLDL: bar x 10, 135lbs x 5, 225lbs x 3, 3, 3 Snatch Grip SLDL (5:00, 185lbs): x5, 5, 5, 5
The reps felt horrible. Sets w. 225 were pulling on my lower back, so I lowered it back down to 185 - they were better, but still not great.

Less is definitely less....
But nothing is nothing and less is better than nothing!

Hopefully over the holiday I'll have some time to map out a solid plan for the coming months. Work looks like it will continue to be a bear for a while and that makes the planning even more important.
Wednesday, December 21, 2011 Bulgarian Split SQ: bar x 5/5 Bulgarian Split SQ (5:00, 75lbs): x8/8, 8/8, 8/8
These felt good today - very solid. I was winded though and that's something that I've been ignoring lately...

Friday, December 23, 2011 Barbell Press: bar x 20 Bent Over Laterals: 10lb plates x 10 Double KB Press (5:00): 24kg bells x 3, 3, 4, 3, 3 Bent-Over Laterals: 10lb plates x 20, 15lbers x 20
WEAK!!!! My excuse is a rushed and poor warm-up. The presses felt better in the later sets. The first two sets just hurt. Planning is an absolute necessity here and I'll be mapping things out this weekend.

Sunday, December 25, 2011 Pull-Ups/Chins (5 sets on the minute): x8, 6, 6, 4, 4
Yesterday, I woke up w. back spasms... I'm not really sure what the cause was - probably misgrooved work w. the kettlebells and/or a lot of time spent sitting on the ground wrapping presents combined w. the tweaked hip from last week I suppose. Neither the kbs or wrapping should be cranking up my back that bad though. Ice, compression w. stretch bands, and ibuprofen on Christmas eve and things were much better today.
Right now, I'm writing training plans and drinking nog. Good times.

Thanks Pete - I'm sleeping well this break and that's huge.
Tuesday, December 27, 2011 Bulgarian Split SQ: bar x 5/5, 65lbs x 5/5, 85lbs x 5/5, 95lbs x 5/5
Smooth and easy - should be up to respectable weight on this in reasonable time if I don't get greedy. Back is feeling better. Not 100%, but better.

Wednesday, December 28, 2011 Russian Hockey DLs (w. 24kg kb): x10 x 5sets
These felt fine, but lower back still is what it is. Purpose is to groove the hip movement, not go big ape crazy.
