I have been reading Rippetoe's BBT and watching the SquatRx videos to try and improve my squat form. I have a question regarding the arching of the back. I have been following Rippetoe's advice by performing supermans and trying to keep my lower back tight and arched when I squat. The problem I have is that I seem to only be using the right erector when I tighten my back. I cannot feel the left side tightening at all. I have tried tightening my back and trying to feel if the muscle is tight with my hand. I can feel the right side contract, but not the left side.
I have recently injured the left side of my back and I think this might be the reason. Does anyone have any advice for such a problem or encountered anyone with this type of problem? I really do not know what to do, but for now I might keep working with the supermans.
