I Have a question... My goal is to bench 405 by Feb ... is that a too far out goal? I have been Making steady progress since April I have about 90 pounds to add on my bench. When I get 405 my next goal is 505 ... is that possible in the next two yrs. I tell people my goals based on my progress so far and to other folks it seems too lofty but I think adding 115 pounds to my bench since april would have seemed too much to comprehend by most people in only about 16 weeks, But I did it anyway... and it wasnt a goal I had ... it just happened. I am beginning to think that some folks just get plain jealous. They just need to stop constantly overtrainning and work harder when they do train. They are the ones that constantly complain about where they are at strength wise and I see them stopping a set at least two reps short... they could do more. I dont get it!! Donnie

Good job on the 315. I agree that most people tend to limit themselves and others. The human body is capable of a lot more than most believe. If your desire is strong enough you can accomplish your goals. If I would have listened to most people when I started I don't think I would have tripled my squat & deadlift maxes since high school.
As far as your goal of 405 by February it is possible. I would just keep in mind that it won't be as easy as getting to 315 or 225 for that matter. Make sure you are adjusting your workouts before your body adjusts and stahls progress. From what I have learned mixing it up makes a difference,(Reps, sets, exercises, styles, rest days, workout days,etc..). Keep your body guessing. Some of the things that have worked for me are Isometrics at the weak point, changing reps from session to session, changing workout days and changing exercises. If you keep these things in mind 405 will be in reach. Good Luck!
Peace, Johnny M.

I am doing a different approach to getting to 375 I am repping 225 untill I can hit 15 reps . then I am moving to 265 untill i get 15 reps then I will add weight everyweek after that no matter my reps just rep till failure Ill place 295 after the 265 then I will add 10 pounds per week untill I can only rep the weight like 3 times then add 5 pounds per week untill I reach a new 1 RM. This outta be good I am doing this approach because I feel my connective tissues are taking a pounding. and using high reps keeps the Intensity up and allows for my connective tissues to recover. My upper arms are ony 14.5 inches unflexed. I have the smallest arms at the gym for anyone benching over 255. Most guys benching 315 have arms much much bigger. When I locked it out several Jaws hit the floor. My arms are smaller but twice as hard as the other folks. I keep telling these guys that they should work their lats and upper back more and also include full body workouts to include Squats, < I now use> to help increase strength everywhere. I will also start using Dead lift next week. I need larger traps also any suggestions?

Nice job Donnie!
DLs will hit your traps pretty well, but there are always tons of shrug variations to try if you're interested. Paul Kelso wrote a book on shrugs called "Kelso's Shrug Book". Definately a great book and an easy read. If you ever get tired of plain-old shrugs let us know and we'll give you a list of variations to try.

I agree with Boris on the DL's. They will get your Traps bigger, no question. I actually read the Paul Kelso book that Boris has. One my favorite exercises in their are the Incline Bench shrugs. I would get a bench and place it in a 80 degree angle. I would then lean against it chest down with my face above the top of the bench and shrug in that position. Dumbells worked the best for me.

Hey! Just send them to boris_york@hotmail.com and I should be able to have them uploaded to our photobucket account quickly. Then, all you have to do is click the "insert image icon" and then paste the URL address of the pic within the bracketed "img" and "/img". It should appear within the post after you have finished.

Sorry, I haven't checked. I will right now.
Looks like they made it. I'm not using my computer right now. As soon as I can use mine (after the kid goes to bed), I should be able to get those online asap. Sorry for the wait.

All righty. Your calf and leg pics are here: photobucket.com/albums/a178/johnnymnemonic/members%20pics/If you cut and paste the image URLs, you should be able to put your pics in posts like so... By the way, the upper body shot file had been corrupted, so I couldn't open it. If you send it to me again, I'll probably be able to get it uploaded.
