Useful lift yesterday with Johnny, Boris, and "Mr. Smith". My traps and lats are sore today.
Went and joined Aspen Athletic Club out in Clive Today. It is 2.94 miles from my job, according to Mapquest.com. They gave me the longest, most thorough tour and interview I have ever experienced before joining a gym. The weight room and cardio rooms look real nice; excited to start this week.

Today:
Deadlifts 275(6), 255, 235, 225 Overhead squats 2x, Front squats 3x
Resigning tommorrow from Aspen, after a nine day membership. Good thing I never canceled my YMCA card.

I was excited about the place at first, but:
They kept leaving me phone messages to "lock in" my membership for 18 months.
They would not permit me to rent even a tiny locker to keep my shower stuff in, so I had to pack up each day like I was leaving on cross country business trip or something.
The Y is actually a better place to do deadlifts, since they provide you with a platform and chalk.
The guy who set up my membership was a big fan of the "modular assist pull up station" and other machines. He swore that Nebraska's football domination stemmed from its early adaptation of Hammer Strength equipment, instead of those passe free weights.
He told me breathlessly "this is the biggest weight room in Iowa."
On the plus side, they had many TVs with excellent coverage of the daytime soaps and Montel.

Wow! Well good thing I did not work at that gym. Too bad that didn't work out for you. And yeah I am sure it was the machines that set the foundation for Nebraska's championships. It had nothing to do with the fastest most powerful athletes they recruited or that their S&C program IS based on free weights.

Good Luck with the whole body routines. That should spark some new growth for you. Make sure to get plenty to eat.
