Each of the sets of 15 killed me. I got horrible cottonmouth after every 10th rep. I'm happy with the volume of this workout, but not happy at how hard it was. Oh well, the only place to go is up!

I was really sore today from yesterday and felt cold all day. After I went home, I took my temperature and it was 101.... Oh well, I guess I'll be taking the day off tomorrow.
On the bright side, I got my 50-some pound kettlebell today. Hooray!

Maaaan, sick again huh! How are the squats coming along? Did you feel strong with the chains? So you now have 2 kettlebells? Anyway are you game for a workout on Saturday? I was thinking me,you,Dion and maybe my friend Owen coul get in a workout. Let me know. Or I might call you.

I'm getting a little nervous about things working out in time... I guess as long as I get it done, I'll be happy even if it ends up being a little later than the b-day. I'm still going to work hard to get 'er done by 12/15 though.
Weekends are going to pretty much suck for me for the next few weeks. Can we tentatively plan something for the 17th? I might just make that my test day if it will work out. Let me know.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN 'IF' ?? Friday, December 2, 2005 - SQSQ: bar x 6, 135 x 6, 225 x 3, 315 x 3, 350 x 3, 250 x 12 x 2sets I just felt like going a little heavier today. Everything felt good until the last two sets and then my legs felt like mush. I'm starting to get a little worried - only one solid week of training and then a week of rest until my test day.

I didn't realize that I was to lock my rear leg during this movement and I slowly figured out on my own that I should be looking at the KB throughout - I'm sure the next time I try these it will be twice as painful. Definately a fun exercise though - I nearly dropped the kettlebell on my head on the first set!

Monday, December 5, 2005 - SQSQ: bar x 6, 135 x 6, 240 x 20*, 240 x 15*, 325 x 3* *=w. belt I'm feeling a little better about making my goals on time now - everything felt pretty good. The squat depth isn't as deep as I'd like. My form has changed because of my hamstring issues - my knees are tracking forward more now and I'm using more quad and less hamstrings. I'll eventually have to try to correct it. Solid looking squat workout. If you Keep the reps high you will hit 225 x 35.

Johnny was in town, so I decided to have a go at 225 x 35 a few days early... Didn't go so well - I got cottonmouth at about 10 reps. I will give it another shot Thursday and I'm sure it will go much better.
On a positive note, both Johnny and "Mr. Smith" were able to press the 72lb KB no problem. Being pissed as hell w. my squat today, and seeing them do it, motivated me enough that pressing it overhead was easy as pie.

Nice work on the 72lb kb. Even though you didn't hit 35 reps w/225 the kb went up pretty easily. Nothing like a litte motivation to increase your strength.
Btw, just to give some background on "Mr.Smith" he is a friend of ours who works out at a corporate gym in the office building he works in. They don't have many free weights or oly bars so he has to use the Smith machine in the gym. Mr.Smith was able to do a 275 sq, 240bp and 315 dl yesterday. Not bad for a 195 guy using the smith only.

Mr. Smith really impresses me! It'd be a lot of fun if he trained PL. I know he's not all that interested, but it's nice to train with him. 225 x 35 will have to wait a little while longer...
